After some issues with the iPhone 6 pre-order page opening up, it looks like Apple have managed to break pre-order records with the iPhone 6 and the 6 Plus, so if you have not managed to bag of a device as of yet, you may have some difficulty trying to buy a new iPhone 6 in the following months.
I’ve got nothing against the iPhone range, and my iPhone 5 sitting on my desk acts as a great backup for when my Android phone is out of action, but there is no doubt that the iPhone 6 is not revolutionary – it’s certainly an improvement from last year’s lineup, but Apple’s magic has somehow managed to make the brand new iPhone 6 break record sales.
According to Apple, combined pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus reached over 4 million units in under 24 hours, which is more than any other iPhone device in history within the same time period.
Over the last couple of years, many have made claims that Apple’s grip on the market is slipping, and Android is slowly beating the Cupertino based company to the ground, but the recent iPhone 6 pre-order records show a completely different story.
Whilst this is all good news for Apple, it’s not so good for anybody actually wanting to buy a new iPhone – the iPhone 6 pre-order records have lead Apple’s current supply to run dry, and those who have not yet pre-ordered may have two wait till October before they receive their device.
It’s clear that not even Apple were expecting such huge success from the new lineup, and the iPhone 6 pre-order records really show that Apple is still a very powerful force to be reckoned with within the mobile industry. Now that Apple has swallowed their pride and followed the smartphone standards the rest of the industry abides to, Apple has stumbled upon a new-found success, and I personally can’t wait to see where they go next over the course of the next few years.
