Apple this year at the WWDC finally released their new line up of Macbook’s. Which is allowing rumors to leave the MacBook station and jump on to a new train, and my guess is it will be the iPhone 5. Apple is calling their new MacBook Pro line “the greatest Apple computer ever built.” Those are some pretty big shoes to fill Apple, hope you can live up to it.
Okay, okay. I’ll just cut to the chase, it’s the reason you’re here right? To hear all of the new techs and specs we will be seeing with the upcoming MacBook line. Well let me tell you, there are some really cool things that we will be seeing and some of the rumors that have been flying around hadsome truth to them.
Getting Down to Business
So what will we really be seeing? Stay tuned because there are 10 MacBooks in the lineup and different specs for each one. Let’s begin, shall we?
The 15” Macbook Pro- the most popular, go-to model of Apple laptops is sticking around as is the 13”, but we still have no word on the 17” display (looking more like it will be blacklisted forever.)
The Retina display MacBook Pros will be losing some weight by becoming sleeker and thinner. It also will be getting the brand new Retina display that has had everyone talking. Along with updates to all the other parts, making your MaBook faster, smarter and more powerful than any other model we have seen in the past (isn’t it how that always goes though?)
There are two different versions of the Retina display MacBook Pros and the lesser will be giving you 256 GB of flash storage with 8 GB of RAM with the brand spanking new Ivy Bridge processor. How much will the lesser cost you? $2,199. Pay an additional $600 and you will get twice the storage and a slightly more powerful processor, if you haven’t been adding that will be costing you $2,799.
Don’t want the fancy new Retina Display with the giant price tag on it? That’s okay; Apple is also offering MacBook Pros without it (and more importantly without the price tag.) Losing the Retina Display will drop you down to a $1,199-$2,199. But will you be losing anything else that is lust worthy? Not really, you are still receiving 500-750 GB (depending on the model you choose) of storage and the Ivy Bridge processor.
Prefer the MacBook Air over the Pro? You’re in luck, because Apple has updated those too. These start at just $999. The 11” Air starts out with an Ivy Bridge Processor and 64 GB of storage. As the price goes up and the screen size, so does the storage available, but other than that they are pretty similar.
Some Other Awesome Updates
The new operating system is going to be featuring some intensive iCloud integration, iCloud which is Apples remote storage, is going to be featured in Apples web brower, Safari, in the form of iCloud tabs. PowerNap is also being introduced, which allows your Mac to update while it is in sleep mode. We will also be seeing some cross-platform gaming from mobile devices like the iPad to Apple’s personal computers, like the MacBook Pro.
Some things that all of the new MacBook line will see no matter the model, are two USB ports. But if you have the Retina Display Macbook Pro, you also get the addition of two Thunderbolt ports. Stay tuned to our site for more new releases from the WWDC!
