Metal Gear Solid fans were geared up at Comic-Con International this year hoping for some kind of news regarding a new Metal Gear Solid installment to coincide with the twenty fifth anniversary of the juggernaut series. Unfortunately fans will have to wait even longer as no announcement was made. To make things worse, fans of the series were given false hope when pictures that appeared to be from Metal Gear Solid 5 (specifically a title screen) made the rounds only to quickly be shot down as false.
It seems that news regarding the future of Solid Snake is hiding in a cardboard box and that fans will have to keep on waiting for an announcement that may never come. The fact is that Hideo Kojima had expressed that Metal Gear Solid 4 was indeed the last installment, though he seems to have since warmed up to the idea of continuing the Solid Snake saga. Perhaps fans can at least continue to hold their breath for a Metal Gear Solid movie, which would reportedly star Christian Bale. Since Bale has just turned in his last performance as Batman he may be ready to trade in the cape and cowl for the bandana. Fans will just have to wait and see what Kojima’s reported special announcement is.
