Help ! We need to not be so user friendly for a change.
I want to be able to edit documents, and keep them all in one location so that I do not have to have iTunes to extract them one by one, per application. We need a FILE manager, built directly into the iOS, that syncs to the cloud.
Why can’t you save anything you want, where you want. After all it is my device isn’t it?
Cloud services are great, but they are lacking a harmonious sync solution. Meaning, that when I save a document I worked on in an APP, I don’t want to just save it inside that APP. What if I have another device I want to pull it to and I do not have internet where I am at? There is no way to get it to that device. So in theory, if I am working on a Presentation in Keynote, I can save it sure, I can e-mail it, I can share it, I can access it from the cloud on another computer, yes.
Well, they’ve made “too easy,” too “complicated.”
One of the biggest reasons, cloud type applications are a big turn off for me, is that they sound great, it’s the “Next big thing” but they don’t work together! The best way, to handle fixing this problem, is to have a File Manager, that all of your data can be associated under, as a global way to manage files on your iOS Devices, much line the “Finder.” If Apple would develop a “Finder” app for the iOS, and then connect that with the cloud. All of our problems are solved!
Beyond the syncing of the “Finder” files, if you are able to plug in your device to any computer USB port, that does not have iTunes or a way to sync your device, it should then activate your phone as a USB Mass-Storage device, allowing you to quickly pull off or add any files you desire. This would in theory, also increase demand for higher storage capacity iOS devices, as users would then be able to store more data on them, while on the go.
This seems like it’s a feature, that many just do not comprehend how bad they miss it, until they’ve heard how my idea can solve a lot of problems. For some, it could be the point of “why bring back the old technology” , and my answer to that is: “If it isn’t broke, then don’t fix it.”
Well, to speculate “Why” Apple has not done this, is simple.
It keeps you in the Apple ecosystem, so that you can not share your work, from a device YOU own with other non-Apple devices. Smart, yes, convenient, not really. However, we still love Apple, we are just ready for some meet in the middle terms, when it comes to their user base . Hopefully we will see this as a possible feature in the upcoming iOS release.
I invite you to comment, and let us know what your thoughts are on this “Finder” APP for the iOS platforms, and if this would help save you the trouble we think it will save you. We are readily listening !
