If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not to buy Microsoft’s latest home console, this offer might be for you. Today, Microsoft announced that for next week only, from September 7th-13th to be exact, any purchase of the Xbox One will come with a free (that’s right, free) game of your choice. There are of course a couple of restrictions, but by and large, this is definitely the best deal for Xbox One that has been offered since its initial launch. This promotion is only available in the US, which will hopefully change in the future for our international friends, and it has to be at participating retailers. There is unfortunately no official list of retailers that are participating in this promotion, so it’s best to call your local stores before heading out next week.
As for the free game itself, there is a minor restriction to that as well. It has to be a disc-based game (sorry, digital friends) with the value of up to $59.99 and can’t be a pre-order game. This means you can choose anything from a shooter like Titanfall or Call of Duty: Ghosts to action adventures like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag or Dead Rising 3 to even the recently released action-RPG, Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition. The sky is the limits on your choice, literally, as most gamers will be ecstatic to know that even the yet-to-be-released Destiny will also be available. Since the promotion runs through the 13th and Destiny comes out on the 9th, anytime between those two dates you can purchase a Xbox One and choose the brand new game from Activision and Bungie as your free game.
Better yet, the offer is open to all Xbox One systems and bundles, be it with Kinect, without Kinect, or even the Titanfall and Madden 15 bundles. This means that you could walk away from the store with up to 2 free games already ready to be enjoyed on your brand new system. If things weren’t so difficult financially for me right now, I would honestly jump on this promotion myself and grab Destiny.
